new purse!

I have been searching for the past month and a half for a new black purse.  I am a bargain shopper and had a set amount I was willing to pay.  Well, between the money my Grandmother and my sister gave me I was able to up my budget a little and get this AMAZING Michael Kors black handbag.  It is the perfect size, has great interior pockets and the leather feels so soft I could just use the purse as a pillow and go to sleep!  Without futher ado....my new handbag!  The picture doesn't do it justice!

My 2009 Christmas Corner

Here is my Christmas Corner!  I didn't get the big tree out this year, it was just too much to do; this tree looks a lot better when the lights are off and I am laying on the couch looking at it:)  I KNOW next year we will break out the big tree! Please ignore the pink walls, they are not in the Christmas spirit!  Also, ignore my dying plant, I did water it after taking the picture and it perked right back up!  It is the plant from my Grandfather's funeral and always has a special place in my home, thankfully it is very resilient to my neglect.  Notice the stockings hung from the built-ins LOL, our 50" tv is covering the mantel so that was the next best place to hang them from.  Looking at the picture I think I should have taken a little more time filling the shelves with items...but I was still getting over my cold and this was the best I could do and now with Christmas about a week away I have no motivation to put out more stuff.

Here is the ornament I bought from the Greensboro Christmas Show this year! Year 2009 with Baby A and Baby B on the way!

I love this angel and thought the candles look good next to it, this is on the built-ins in the living room.  Angels always remind me of my Grandmother and make me smile.

Lastly, the reason for the season.   Little baby Jesus!  I love my white nativity scene set.  Not everyone made it out of the box because they were too big to fix where I wanted them to. I feel bad for the camel and the other shepherds that are still in the box.  Next  year, hopefully, we will be more settled and they can come out and celebrate with everyone. LOL my flash looks like a glowing moon in a pink sky!~

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!

house we put an offer on

we are in negotations on this house and went to look at it again today with my sisters, they loved it.

SLIDESHOW:  Living Room not pictured but is to the right when  you walk in the front door

UPDATE: we put an offer on this house 3 times (it was a foreclosure), but we didn't get it.  Funny how we offered 8k more than their last listing price...oh well, God has a plan including the perfect home for us!

oh the jetta, why?

I am so ready to sell the jetta I could scream.  On Saturday, for once Chris and I were reasonably on time.  Well, we were headed to a wedding outside of Charlotte and on I85 our tire tread blew off and hit the side mirror knocking it off!!!!  Seriously, REALLY!?! So, Chris in his nice suit had to change the tire and then cut the wired to the dangling remains of the side mirror.  All the while I kept picturing a crazed car coming right at him and taking the love of my life away.  I sat in the car and stared at the drivers as they went passed and told Chris if I yelled to MOVE!  Thankfully, most cars were nice and pulled over a lane, though some just stared right at us and Chris was fine, he didn't even get his suit dirty.  At least there was a reason I hadn't cleaned out the backseat in a while and we had plenty of rags for him to use.  I am not about to even tally the money we have put into that car recently, but we did have to spend $100 on a used side mirror off ebay.  Got to love ebay sometimes!

rental house

we are moved into the rental house and set up for the time being.  Although there are piles of random stuff everywhere, I am trying to not let it get to me.  I have 3 goals for the weekend other than our normal routine. 1-clear the kitchen of random piles. 2-grocery shop. 3-go through my pre-pregnancy clothes in my closet that are cascading onto the floor b/c there are too many in there.  Looks like those extra tupperware containers are going to come in handy!

We looked at an awesome house yesterday and are hoping to put an offer on it tomorrow after Chris and his contractor look at it.  Of course, chris's dad is out of town again!  I need to learn to not look at houses when my in-laws are out of town. It never fails that we find one we might like; and Chris wont do anything with out his approval!  Sweet, but annoying b/c I am ready to buy our next house and get moved again!

This house is great, we wouldn't have to do much renovation to it other than remove A LOT of wall paper and replace some stinky carpet.  I keep telling myself, if it is meant to be than it will be!

our last evening at home

This is our last evening at the sherrill house.  It is kinda sad, but at the same time exciting that we are moving forward with our plans that we have been dreaming about the past year.  So much is happening there really isn't time to sit and be too sad.  I will probably be sad when I see the living room empty and we are sweeping the floors and turning over the keys.  But right now I am ready to get to Graham and get settled.

TO DO LIST:
  1. Get moved
  2. Get settled
  3. Start seriously looking for a house
  4. Start looking for a minivan (yes I, Jeanna, will be driving a minivan)
  5. Hopefully, buy a house
  6. Get moved
  7. Get settled
  8. Decorate Nursary
  9. Buy Minivan
  10. Sell Jetta
All this is to happen before the twins make their arrival or I go on bed rest!!!  So we have about 20 weeks give or take!

2 deals today!

  1. I turned in my discover card points for $75 to the Motherhood Maternity store!! By the time they get here I will be ready for some maternity pants!!
  2. Nike Sports Bra for $0.44!! How did I do it you ask?  Well, I do the coke rewards points.  It is slightly annoying b/c I end up with coke bottle lids in my purse, but usually I just empty them out into a drawer at work and then when I am really bored I type them in.  So, I was able to get two $10 rewards cards.  Then, I went onto the website and checked out their clearance section.  I found a bra for $18.97 plus $8.00 shipping.  I tried to check out and couldn't get the second gift card to work.  So, I called and a really nice guy on the customer service line helped me AND he waved the $8 shipping.  So the grand total of the bra came out to $0.44!!! Which I promptly put on my discover card so I can more points!!!

more packing with Pics this time

So, yesterday at work I was so exhausted, but it seem recently that as soon as I walk in the door at home I am wide awake and ready to pack.  Chris and I packed some more Tupperware containers and then he decided to put them in the big red van and he is unloading them today at our new temporary home today.  Here is a picture of the van all packed up, just know that for every container you can see there is another one underneath it!  I think there was a total of 10 Tupperwares plus some random boxes.  We could have put more in the van but Chris wouldn't have been able to get to his work stuff, and we do like for him to be able to work!  Hubby was so cute carrying everything out to the van, he wouldn't let me life a finger!

Question:  Would you mow the lawn before you moved away or not?  The buyers have been real sticklers on everything and so we don't want to do any extra that we don't have to....

packing and more packing

So, we REALLY started packing last night.  Everything is being sorted by storage or keep.  Here is what I have packed so far.

  • my skinny clothes-clothes that fit right now, but I wont wear them b/c they are tight around the middle and i am more sensitive now
  • my summer clothes
  • my summer shoes and high heels (not wearing high heels as a pregnant lady)
  • my grandmother's white china
  • guest room closet
So, we are still trying to figure out where we are going to live.  We are thinking the house in Graham and if this is the case we will start moving things this weekend.  I think we are going to go ahead and move the guest bed.  This way if we decide to stay there we will have a place to sleep.

offer rejected and other house stuff....

The offer we put on the 18 acre/ranch house was rejected.  They got a better offer.  Oh well, God has something better planned for us.  Chris and I have some talking to do tonight...and A LOT of packing.  My car is full of boxes from our warehouse and I think we are going to go to wally world and get more Tupperware.  They stack well and if our things are going to be in storage for a long time I want them to be safe.

We have decided to move into the house in Graham, that Chris's parents own with his sister and husband.  We can bring a baby into that house.  We could live in a smaller house in a yucky neighborhood for free, but seeing as we might not buy anything for a while and if we do buy anything then we will probably have to do some renovations and that pushes us out even longer.  At least this is a nice big house with a dining room that we can  have thanksgiving in our house if we wanted.  It will be hard to get me to move out of this house.  It is a really nice house, though it does need some love and some new cabinets!  I hope Chris is ready for some packing tonight.

There is another forecloser that we looked at last night, it is walking distance to our friends house and is really cute.  It too needs some love and cabinets.  It is not as big of job as the ranch house...we have got to stop thinking about the ranch house.  The only thing it is off a busy street.  Did I mention we could WALK to our friends house, I mean how awesome would that be, pushing the stroller and walking over there in good weather.  Would be SO MUCH FUN!!!

Lets hope our realtor finds us a house tonight in the expired listings or Chris agrees to the light blue house and they accept our offer....say a prayer that God will have a great place for us to live and that we find it SOON!

SOLD!

Sweet little Sherrill Street house is sold, we are supposed to close on the 30th!  So, I am freaking a little.  We have lived there for 4+ years and over that time have accumulated A LOT of stuff.  I need to take pictures before we begin to start packing up the rooms.

So, we put an offer on 18+ acres with a ranch house on it in Graham.  It is really the only property that we are interested in.  We should hear something by the end of the day.  It is a foreclosure, so it acts as a blind auction.  Basically, all we know is that someone else submitted an offer and everyone had to put in there highest best offer by 8am this morning.  We did the best we can do with out breaking the bank, especially since this house needs A TON of work.

Say some prayers that we get the house!

activity on the house

We've had our house on the market for a while now. I believe God is answering prayers this week.

  • Sunday: Remax brought a couple to see the house for the 2nd time, currently they are working on financing and planning on making an offer
  • Monday: another Realtor group brought a couple for a 2nd showing and have begun asking questions and possibly are interested
  • Tuesday: 1st showing
  • Wednesday: 1st showing
  • Thursday: 1st showing and then called back for a 2nd showing to show her fiancee the house
I just want to ask everyone to continue to pray for the sell of our house and thank God for all the activity this week. That alone is an answer to prayer. We love our house and don't want to sell it, but feel that this is what God is calling us to do. To move closer to our church and family and get out from under a large mortgage payment in these uncertain economic times.

oh little jetta

So, our little TDI Jetta has kept us busy the past few weeks:

The short story (as short as possible!)
  • I lost a hubcab, she now looks horrible.
  • Then we realized the inspection is up, off she goes to the Lexus dealership with Chris and Mike
  • fresh headlights, tried to fix the wheels, inspection and more
  • decide to buy wheels and tires-got good deal online, they are on their way to our house now
  • then sunday after church with 5 cartons of ice cream in the trunk, the jetta wont start! FUN! riiiiiight.....
  • had to call my sister to come rescue us and the ice cream, so after getting the work van and a new battery and we were off
  • i shampooed the seats...they look so much better!!!
  • and then today: see pics no words necessary AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! (see missing hubcap? Yuck!)

Cottage soon to be Summerlin home!

Chris and I spent all day Saturday, Sunday and Monday working on the cottage. Chris finished the electrical including outlets, switches, ceiling fans, light fixtures, appliance hookups, HVAC and the list goes on and on. But he got finished! I helped by cleaning up behind him and handing him things! Here is the cottage: light fixture is in the breakfast nook, the backsplash in the kitchen is BEAUTIFUL, the fun part was I got to help mom throughout most of the selections!

No offer on the house

Ahhh, these people have pissed me off! Why would you waste so many people's time and then decide to "pass" on the house. I have spent the past 4 days emailing and talking on the phone with my realitor over and over again answering their questions. Just so they can pass on the house. I know they have the right to their opinions, but I am pissed that their realitor with her lack of knowledge has messed up this deal. Basically they have 3 issues:
  1. the roof: there was a small leak in the dining room that hasn't leaked for over a year...why did we not get the ceiling patched in time? b/c we are so busy and it is an old house and basically it will never be 100% perfect
  2. the HVAC unit: it is over 10 years old and they are worried they would have to replace it while they lived there...well I am not about to replace a perfectly functioning unit that has never gived us on bit of trouble and lots of COLD air! HELLO you are buying an old house, duh!
  3. Asbestos siding on the Garage Apartment: they think they have to have this specially removed before you can put vynal siding on it, again HELLO you are buying an old house, over half the houses in our neighborhood have asbestos siding hiding underneith. Just don't lick the building and you should be ok!
I wish I could talk to them face to face and tell them to not waste peoples time and energy and that they need to be looking in a different neighborhood because the homes in lindley park are OLD and not perfect, but yet that is why the neighborhood is full of charm and character. Go ahead and buy your new vynal siding home in your cookie cutter neighborhood that looks like every other house on the street. And when you go to try and resell that house and aren't able because the builder is building new ones down the street cheaper and you are stuck, I will be on the side lines saying a big fat "i told you so!".

the sherrill home

When I think of leaving our house on sherrill, I get really sad, we have had so many fun times in this place, but at the same time it doesn't make sense to stay anymore.
Reasons to leave:
  • we want to start our family eventually and would like to be near my in-laws
  • we need to refinance before 5/2010 (less than a year!)
  • Chris is tired of commuting and says it is my turn now
  • we want to be closer to our church
  • Mike and Christie are in that area
Why I don't want to leave:
  • I spent the first night married to my husband in between those walls
  • Parties and Celebrations we've had in that house: Chris-a-pooloza, Sara & Robby's engagement party, wedding showers for friends, cook outs, and who could forget SLIP N SLIDE!
  • the most random romantic moment in my life when Chris painted the dining room and put out all our beautiful wedding china and crystal and bought me flowers and wine!
  • I've celebrated birthdays, engagements, weddings, passing Chris's electrical exam and many other monumental moments.
  • the brick wall in the back yard that was a wedding present from my in-laws
  • over 200 bulbs that we planted in the back yard
  • that I am 5 min from work
  • that Sara lives only 10 minutes away
  • that i am close to the junior league headquarters and events and chi omega stuff
  • and the list could go on and on....
I don't think my heart realizes that our house in truly on the market. My body knows its true because it has to keep the house clean, my mind knows it true because it is off shopping for the next house and designing it. But my heart looks around my home and feels good.

Tomorrow should bring our first offer on the house since it has been on the market. Our realitor has tried to prepare us for a low ball offer. I have no clue what number they are going to come up with. I don't know if they are going to offer on 1 propriety or both. All I know is that Chris and I feel that it is time to move and we are ready to take on the next phase of our life and see where it leads us. As long as we are together that is all that matters. Here is a picture from last night at Chevy's wedding of us!

random updates

I just found a feather in my salad at Panara Bread. They gave me my lunch for free, but I am still grossed out. Why do you always find this at the end of the meal?

In other news today:

Sara's Wedding Shower was wonderful. We couldn't have asked for better weather. It was in a backyard and felt like a garden party. Very classy! Just makes me want the wedding to be here tomorrow!

Selling our house: We had a showing scheduled for 5-6, these are the couple that came on Thursday and saw the house. They are coming back to see the garage and apartment!!! Then I get a call that wakes me up from my nap and another showing was scheduled for 3:30-4:30!! YIPPEE!! I put a note on the door that said to leave the lights on for the next showing. If I was looking seriously at a house knew there was a ton of showings it would make me more anxious, I am hoping this will put a little good pressure on them to make an offer sooner than later.

The house we are looking at near my in-laws. Last Sunday, Chris and I walked through it and were happy about some things and dissapointed about others. We were hoping there would be a way to open the kitchen to the den, but without giving up a small 1/2 bath we can't do it. The kitchen was bigger than we thought, which is a huge plus, but the den was smaller. The dining room ceiling is REALLY low. Earlier this week, I was really feeling that this would be too big of a project for us, but now I am more excited after Mom looked at it and did her majic on it. (FYI: this is what she does for a living and could make the house beautiful and exactly what we want). The only catch is the money side. I just don't know how we are going to be able to buy the house and the 8 acres and still have enough money to redo the kitchen and make the rest of the house livable until the major renovations would take place. The first thing to go would be the kitchen and then the wood paneling that is throughout the ENTIRE house. YUCK! A lot of sweat will go into this one if we do it.

Looking forward: The first step is to sell our house and then the next step is to see what they might want for the other property. Then if all that is a go, we will bring mom to the house and come up with a master plan which will include an estimate of how much it would cost to do what we want to do. Then make an offer on the house...but not until I know it is possible that it could become my forever house.

YUM!

fun with kitchen gadgets

We were at BB&Beyond last night buying a wedding present and killing time while there was a showing on our house. So, Chris decided that this spoon rest was too good to pass up and lucky for us there was a salt grinder nearby (yes we did pick the salt instead of the pepper intentionally!). LOL I love my funny hubby!

blonde moment

So, I had a TOTAL blonde moment yesterday. I bought the DVD the 30 day shred. I've heard it is really hard core and a great workout. Well, I thought I will just do it at the gym after my usual cardio on the stairmaster. So, I put the DVD into the play, it was a 5 disc changer and I noticed this. So a DVD starts playing and I am using the remote to find the work out. I noticed that it wasn't the same lady as the cover of the box, but I figured maybe they hired it out. As I am doing the work out I am thinking this is WAY too easy. Well I get home and really start looking at the box and notice that the pictures on the back are not the same as the workout I did earlier. Then I open the box and look at the front of the DVD and I am thinking maybe they switched them and I am going to have to return this DVD...then the light comes on...it was a 5 disc changer and I must have done some random DVD in the changer....DUH!!!!! Really!?! It took me getting home to figure this out! So tonight hopefully I will start the 30 day shred!

almost got a ticket today

My adrenaline is still running!!!! So, I left my house as usual today and was making a right turn at a stop sign onto a busy road. Well, as soon as I pulled out I noticed this car up ahead SLAMMED on the brakes and swerved into the right lane, I was in the left lane. Then the blue lights turned on....my heart dropped I was like did I do something wrong? So, the cop got behind me as I was pulling up to a red light, then he got beside me and rolled down his window.

Cop: Mame, that was a no right on red back there.
Me: what?
Cop: The right turn you made back there was a no right turn on a red light.
Me: it wasn't a light, it was a stop sign. The road was south L***.
Light turns greens, cars behind us begin honking.
Cop rolls up window, so I do the same and I pull out and over to the right in case he wanted to stop me further.
Cop pulls into left lane and onto median, ready to pull the next person over.

Whew! I thought that was going to be a ticket for sure! I was so nervous I couldn't even think to say the name of the street the first time...i was tongue tied! Thank goodness for not getting a ticket.

Sophie Smith joins the world!

7-2-09: Sophia Smith (no middle name as of yet) joined the outside world around 9am this morning 8lbs 4 oz, 20 inches (if i remembered correctly)!

Big Brother Jordan kissing his new sissy!
Mommy and baby:

really?.... REALLY!

I hate it when people try to help you but make it worse:

A coworker was having issues with his email account yesterday and decided to help by fixing everyone's emails. Well, my email was fine but then after he fixed it, it was all messed up. Where I couldn't even have the outlook open because a box keeps popping up in front of whatever I was working on and no emails were going out or coming in. Basically, I had to call and speak with the lady in customer service and have her walk me through it and then go fix 3 other computers! AHHH I know more about PC's than he does, I wish he would just have left it alone. Oh well it is fixed now back to work!

a quick funny!

A kindergarten class had a homework assignment to find out something exciting and relate it to the class the next day.

When the time came to present what they'd found, the first little boy the teacher called on walked up to the front of the class, and with a piece of chalk, made a small white dot on the blackboard and sat back down.

Puzzled, the teacher asked him what it was.

'It's a period,' he replied.

'I can see that,' said the teacher, 'but what is so exciting about a period.

'Darned if I know,' he said, but this morning my sister was missing one, my mom fainted, my dad had a heart attack, and the boy next door joined the Navy

Rest in Peace Farrah Fawcett

"Farrah Fawcett…she of the goregous smile and feathered hair. Girls in the 70’s wanted to be you, and guys in the 70’s just wanted you. You inspired a million hairdo’s, and made every little girl want to kick butt as one of Charlie’s Angels. Hard to believe she was only on the show for ONE season (minus guest appearances in the following 5) and is still the most popular Angel! You fought a strong fight against the cancer, and you will be missed"

I remember sitting on the end of my Granny's bed with my sisters after school watching Charlie's Angels and we would always hope it was an episode with "the blond angel".

Quote/Prayer

This prayer comes to me at different stages of life and really struck me today:
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference" Reinhold Niebuhr

less than two hours till.....

the weekend that leads to the beach trip that i will be at all week!! This is first week off since I started working full time! What a crazy week with the showroom flooding last week and having to try to get work done upstairs with all the noise and people in and out. It reminds me of elementary school and my ADD flaring up. I can't concentrate at all up here. So here is my weekend plans:

Today:
  • Costco-food and other supplies for the beach, got to cook for the whole family one night
  • Julie's Graduation Gift...no clue about that one yet, maybe something from costco?
  • up in the air for the evening plans could be any of these 3 things:Movie night with Chris or Christie, or go see a band play at blind tiger; depends on Mike b/c he works in the morning.
Tomorrow/Saturday:
  • Clean Car and get Chris to change oil
  • DO LAUNDRY, its been over 2 weeks and i am out of everything
  • Pack, pack and more packing can't forget anything b/c Edisto is either really expensive or they just don't have it
  • Hang out with Christie at the pool, this is kinda up in the air but we might just do dinner with the hubbies if we didn't do anything Friday night.
  • hang out with my hubby, he isn't coming to the beach till Tuesday evening :(
  • might get massage today or on Sunday
Sunday:
  • massage tentatively
  • kiss husband good bye
  • head to the beach
Can you tell I am ready for the beach?

Robin Williams on the US

The Plan!
?
Robin Williams, wearing a shirt that says 'I love New York ' in Arabic.

You gotta love Robin Williams......Even if he's nuts! Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan. What we need now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message.

Robin Williams' plan...(Hard to argue with this logic!)

'I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here's one plan.'

1) 'The US will apologize to the world for our 'interference' in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those 'good 'ole' boys', we will never 'interfere' again.

2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting withGermany , South Korea , the Middle East , and the Philippines . They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.

3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are. They're illegal!!! France will welcome them.

4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.

5) No foreign 'students' over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a 'D' and it's back home baby.

6) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while

7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)

8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not 'interfere.' They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything.

9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us 'Ugly Americans' any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH..learn it...or LEAVE...Now, isn't that a winner of a plan?

'The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying 'Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses.' She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'you want a piece of me?' '
