Kelly at Kelly's Corner does this show us how you live this weeks is how we got engaged!
So without further ado! January 4th, 2005
Part I: For Christmas we decided to take a trip to Nashville, TN instead of giving gifts. On our way there we spent the night at his sister's home in Spring City. Previous to our trip, we had been looking at rings and on the way there Chris tricked me by saying maybe we would find the ring setting in Nashville. So, needless to say I had no idea that he actually had the ring and in his pocket the whole time. It was rainy grey day and he drove us up onto the top of the mountain. At this point I had begun to get a little nauseous from riding in the car. But Chris kept pushing for us to go to the beautiful waterfall that he kept telling me about. We arrived at the edge of the woods and it was sprinkling. To get to the waterfall it was a mile hike in the mud and I was carsick so I backed out.
At this point Chris was so stressed and a little upset with me, I couldn't figure out what the big deal was as the waterfall would always be there and we could see it on a separate trip. So we headed on to Nashville, got checked into our hotel and dressed up for dinner. Chris' BIL had told us about the Opry Mill Hotel and that we should stop by and see it. If you have never been it is amazing, the interior is a garden with pathways, restaurants and even a small river. It was still decorated from Christmas and lights were twinkling from the ceiling. We began walking around when we saw a small waterfall and a bench. Chris had us sit down, he reached for my hands and began saying the most beautiful words. He then reached in his pocket and got on a knee pulling out the ring. I was speachless, it was the ring I wanted, the man I wanted and for once I had no words just a huge grin and a rock on my finger. But finally realized I needed to say yes, and YES YES YES!!! The next hour we walked around the rest of the hotel's garden and called our immediate family. We decided it was time to eat and we went across the street to an aquarium restaurant with a huge roomsized salt water aquarium full of beautiful peaceful colorful fish. Looking back we saw some of the most beautiful things that day and it made it a day that I will never forget even though I did spoil the engagement by not hiking in the mud up and down the mountain.
Part II: The next part of the story gets left out a lot of the time. After dinner I wasn't feeling 100% so we went back to the hotel before going out to celebrate. My stomach was still a bit upset and I layed down for a bit, but at 12:30am (so it doesn't count in the engagement day) I sat up and threw up all over the bed. We dont know if it was the shrimp, carsick or me just being excited but I ended up sick all night long. My engagement ring was a little big and Chris was worried it would fall into the toilet, but I wouldn't take it off my finger and held my fist in the air above my head and held my hair back with my other hand and I continued to empty my stomach. If you know me you know that things like this just happen to me. But even as i was sick, Chris said "at least the kids will think its funny" I love him!
